US import duty calculator for goods from China

The calculator is set to the United States. Enter the HTS code or product name and the goods value: it fetches the general (column 1) rate from the US Harmonized Tariff Schedule. China-specific duties such as Section 301 come on top; the table below shows what to add.

HS code or product name

Optional, for duties and taxes. Type a code, or a product name in Chinese or English and pick a match.

Optional. Included in the customs value where duty is charged on CIF.

Duties and landed cost

Enter an HS code and the goods value to see duties and taxes.

Reference only: rounding, additional duties and customs valuation can change the amounts, and customs decides. Local clearance, port and delivery charges are not included.

What the calculator includes, and what to add

  1. Customs value: the goods value you enter. The freight you enter counts toward the landed cost, not the duty.
  2. Duty: the customs value × the general rate the HTS gives for your code.
  3. Not included: Section 301 duties, anti-dumping or countervailing duties, and the processing and harbor fees. Add them from the Chapter 99 headings listed for your code.

For goods from China, the Section 301 duties are often larger than the general rate, so treat the calculator's duty as a floor, not the total. Our US customs guide has a worked example, and our customs team confirms the total before you ship.

Fees on every entry

A formal entry pays a merchandise processing fee of 0.3464% of the value, at least $34.58 and at most $670.86; an informal entry filed electronically pays $2.77. Sea freight also pays a harbor maintenance fee of 0.125%. The importer of record owes the duties and fees, and a formal entry needs a customs bond.

Low-value parcels after the end of de minimis

Duty-free de minimis entry for goods valued at $800 or less ended for goods from China on 2 May 2025 and for all countries on 29 August 2025. CBP suspended it indefinitely in June 2026, and Public Law 119-21 ends it on 1 July 2027. Low-value shipments now use informal entry, for goods valued at $2,500 or less, and pay the duties that apply.

Shipping to the US with us

Air freight from Shenzhen or Hong Kong reaches LAX in 7–9 days, then UPS or FedEx delivers, from ¥35/kg on our published rates. Sea freight sails from Yantian and Shekou to Los Angeles and Long Beach in 14–16 days and needs an ISF. See the China–USA route page for every option, or ask our customs team to classify your products.

FAQ

How do I calculate US import duty on goods from China?

Multiply the FOB value of the goods by the general rate for their 10-digit HTS code, then add the China-specific duties listed in Chapter 99, such as Section 301, and any anti-dumping duty. Formal entries also pay the 0.3464% merchandise processing fee, and sea freight a 0.125% harbor maintenance fee.

Does the calculator include Section 301 duties?

No. It shows the general (column 1) rate from the HTS. Section 301 and other additional duties on Chinese goods depend on the code's Chapter 99 headings and change often, so add them for your code or ask our customs team to confirm the total.

Is there still duty-free entry for goods under $800 from China?

No. Goods from China lost de minimis treatment on 2 May 2025, CBP suspended the exemption for all countries indefinitely in June 2026, and the law ends it on 1 July 2027. Low-value shipments are entered and pay the duties that apply.
